Over €10 Million Invested to Upgrade Health Centres Across Tenerife

TENERIFE – More than €10 million has been allocated to modernizing primary healthcare infrastructure across Tenerife since June 2023. Funded by the Canary Islands Government, the project has introduced new medical clinics, expanded diagnostic services, and delivered critical upgrades to existing facilities.

Major completions include the brand-new Las Chafiras clinic in San Miguel de Abona (€2.2M investment), alongside new healthcare buildings in El Sauzal (€987,000), Buenavista del Norte (€2.2M), and Barroso in La Orotava (€1.3M).

Expanded Clinical Services and Infrastructure Improvements

The initiative has added new blood testing facilities at Las Chafiras, El Sauzal, Barroso-Colombo, and the La Laguna-University health district. Meanwhile, the San José de los Llanos clinic received a €51,000 refurbishment, introducing upgraded resuscitation and observation suites.

Approximately €3 million was dedicated to general maintenance and air conditioning overhauls. Construction of the new La Esperanza centre (€2.3M) is now complete, with medical equipment installation underway prior to its official opening.

Future Projects on the Horizon

• Tacoronte: €6.9 million approved to extend and modernise its 30-year-old health centre.
• Fasnia & Tegueste: Design plans advancing for Fasnia, with land secured for a future site in Tegueste.
